London, Lund Humphries, 79 S. Mit zahlr. auch farb. Abb. - Broschiert. Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - ENGLISH - Konstantin Grcic. Furniture, Product and Lighting Designer: I met Matthew through SCP in 1990 when he was a 'big guy' and I had just finished my studies at the Royal College of Art. He was already quite well known and so naturally I looked up to him. At that time he was working on a series of very distinctive projects in cast aluminium: the candlesticks with a Brancusi influence, the Antelope and the Flipper tables. What particularly draws me to his work is its sculptural quality. He has a remarkable ability to work with volumes which he moulds or carves into particular shapes. This involves a good eye and tremendous skill which is why I admire his work so much. It may be quite different from my own, but I feel attracted to it because I am sure that we share many of the same principles in thought. One thing that comes to mind when I think about Matthew is his beautiful character. He is humble, but always direct and he has a consistency which is very special. He truly deserves all the attention he is getting for his work although his personality may not seek the spotlight naturally. ISBN 9789853318071Design 2000.
